The Reds are down in Atlanta to start off a three game set against the Braves with Homer Bailey facing off against Ervin Santana. Santana has been just incredible in his first few starts with the Braves, with one of the bigger reasons of his success being an increased usage of his changeup. I asked him last week when the Braves were in New York why he was throwing his changeup so much more than he used to and he said that the pitch has just felt good lately. Let's hope it feels good for him again tonight.
Bailey has struggled in terms of runs allowed but his peripherals suggest he is throwing the ball effectively. I don't expect much scoring in this series and I think tonight will be a good representation of the strengths of these two ball clubs, which are pitching and defense.
