According to an MLB press release, Jason Heyward is one of the 10 National League contestants on the National League ballot for the Home Run Derby. Three of the 10 National League members of the Home Run Derby ballot will be entered into the contest.
Heyward being on the ballot is a lot of fun. Hopefully he gets enough votes to participate in the derby, because he crushes it in batting practice and it would be cool to see him in the national spotlight.
Also on the ballot are Pedro Alvarez, Jay Bruce, Paul Goldschmidt, Bryce Harper, Buster Posey, Yasiel Puig, Giancarlo Stanton, Troy Tulowitzki, and David Wright. Those are some pretty powerful names so hopefully Braves country can pump in the ballots like they did last year for Freddie Freeman as the final vote candidate.
The report says that you can vote on MLB.com for this as well as for the traditional All-Star ballot.
