If Freddie Freeman hasn't looked like the best hitter in baseball over the past couple of games, his dry eyes might have something to do with it. According to Carroll Rodgers of the AJC, Freeman has been battling this issue since the weekend series with the Mets. However, the good news is, he doesn't believe it will be a huge issue going forward,
"Everything is all right - nothing on the corneas," Freeman said. "I had some little abrasions on the whites of my eyes, and it was dry, so I had to clean my lids out and my tear ducts and get them going again. He said I should be fully healthy by Friday. I've got to deal with it a little bit today, but I'll be good."
This is an issue Freeman first started dealing with in 2012 and is probably something that will nag him here and there throughout his career. It shouldn't be anything career altering though, which is good considering how important the eye is to hitting a baseball.
Anyway, something to keep an eye on.
Update (2:48 PM): For those not watching the game, the camera zoomed in on Freeman blinking his eyes rapidly like he was having trouble seeing during the 8th. The next pitch he took for a called third strike right down the middle.
