Gwinnett Braves: 1 at Charlotte Knights: 0
- Todd Cunningham, CF: 3-4, 2 2B (3), K, .241
- Tommy La Stella, 2B: 0-3, BB, .250
- Ernesto Mejía, 1B: 1-4, 2 K, .358
- Christian Bethancourt, C: 0-2, BB, .206
- Tyler Greene, SS: 1-3, K, .188
- Yunesky Maya: IP, 2 H, 2.08 ERA
- Mitch Atkins: 4.2 IP, 2 H, 3 K, 5.40 ERA
- Juan Jaime: IP, 2 K, 0.00 ERA
A team affiliated with the Braves won a 1-0 game on Thursday, as the G-Braves squeaked out a win over Charlotte. Yunesky Maya departed with an unspecified leg injury in the bottom of the second inning before recording an out, but Mitch Atkins, Atahualpa Severino, Wirfin Obispo, and Juan Jaime combined with Maya to throw a shutout-by-committee. Jaime pitched a spotless ninth to pick up the save, allowing no baserunners and striking out two. Todd Cunningham was the only offensive standout on the day for Gwinnett, doubling twice and picking up three hits. He scored the game's only run in the top of the fourth inning after doubling, advancing to third on a sac bunt by Phil Gosselin, and scoring on after Knights catcher Josh Phegley dropped a throw at the plate that would've presumably gotten Cunningham otherwise.
Mississippi Braves: 0 vs. Huntsville Stars:1
- Matt Lipka, CF: 1-3, BB, .234
- Joe Leonard, 3B: 1-4, 2 K, .265
- Elmer Reyes, SS: 2-3, 2 E (2, both throwing), CS (1),.600
- Matt Kennelly, C: 2-3, .292
- J.R. Graham: 3.2 IP, 4 H, R (0 ER), K, 0.00 ERA
- Ryan Weber: 2.1 IP, H, K, 1.93 ERA
What was it with the Braves, their affiliates, and 1-0 games yesterday? Anyway, the M-Braves dropped a close game with Huntsville 1-0 yesterday. J.R. Graham labored a bit, throwing 67 pitches (44 strikes) in 3.2 innings before being lifted. He only gave up one run (which wasn't earned), and didn't walk anyone. Ryan Weber, Chasen Shreve, and John Cornely combined for 5.1 innings of scoreless relief. Mississippi couldn't get the bats going, only scraping out six singles and a walk. Elmer Reyes had a couple of singles, but also committed two throwing errors and was caugh stealing. This game didn't feature much excitement, to be frank.
Lynchburg Hillcats: 2 vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks: 4
- José Peraza, 2B: 2-4, K, 2 SB (8), CS (2), E (2, fielding) .276
- Kyle Wren, CF: 2-4, 2 R, 4 SB (9), .259
- Kevin Ahrens, 3B: 1-3, 2 RBI (9), K, .244
- Daniel Castro, SS: 2-4, 2B (4), .286
- Jarrett Miller: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, BB, 3 K, 3.00 ERA
- Matt Chaffee: IP, BB, 2 K, 2.25 ERA
The Hillcats dropped a low-scoring game to Wilmington, 4-2, on Thursday. José Peraza had an eventful game, going 2-4 with a couple of stolen bases (he was also caught stealing), and committing an error. Kyle Wren doubled Peraza's stolen base total, swiping an astounding four bases off of Cam Gallagher, who had a tough night behind the dish for the Blue Rocks. He's already stolen nine bases in 14 games on the young season. Jarrett Miller started for the Hillcats on Thursday and was serviceable, pitching nearly seven innings and giving up three earned runs. Scott should appreciate former Arizona Wildcat Matt Chaffee's ninth inning on Thursday, in which he struck out two Blue Rocks.
Rome Braves: 7 @ Charleston RiverDogs: 8
- Johan Camargo, SS: 2-4, RBI (4), .200
- Joey Meneses, 1B: 2-4, 2B (4), HR (2), RBI (5), K, BB, .286
- Victor Reyes, RF: 2-5, SB (4), 2 K, .300
- Daniel Carroll, LF: 2-4, 2B (1), RBI (2), SB (2), K, .429
- Jared Dettmann: 3 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 3 K, 5 BB, 6.75 ERA
- Tyler Brosius: 2.2 IP, 2 R (0 earned), 4 K, BB, 5.40 ERA
Rome dropped their first game in the Low Country 8-7 on Thursday night. Jared Dettmann had a poor start, walking five batters and giving up four runs in just three innings of work, struggling with his control. Tyler Brosius had a strong relief outing, however, striking out four batters in 2.2 innings. Johan Camargo, off to a bit of a slow start this season, had a couple of singles and an RBI. Joey Meneses went deep to the opposite field off of RiverDogs' starter Brady Lail, just clearing a very patriotic Yuengling ad:

No offense to Joey, but the most impressive part of that highlight may be the quality of the video. Victor Reyes had a nice night, with a couple of singles and a stolen base. Rome will start Andry Ubiera tomorrow night, looking to rebound and get into the win column.
