Currently the Braves' starting pitching rotation is headlined by Julio Teheran and Alex Wood. That's not a bad thing, but much needed depth and talent is on the way as Mike Minor, Gavin Floyd and Ervin Santana are all scheduled to make minor league rehab starts this week. Braves reporter Grant McAuley gave the dates of their starts this week on twitter earlier in the day.
These three pitchers have more experience under their belt than Teheran and Wood, as they have a combined 17.287 years of major league experience. Minor and Wood were reported a week ago as being likely set to return in the week of April 20th.
Minor, who posted a career high in wins (13) and ERA (3.21) last season, pitched well in his start against the Braves Futures team this past weekend by throwing 14 pitches in 1 1/3 scoreless innings of work.
Santana made two starts in Spring Training for the Braves and pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs. He is expected to make his debut in mid April and is in line to make his debut for his new team next Wednesday at home against the Mets.
