Atlanta acquired 26-year-old Zach Stewart from Chicago for cash considerations. Stewart was once a highly touted prospect but has been stuck in the AAAA mold for the past number of years.
In triple-A last season Stewart pitched to a 4.25 ERA backed by a 6.56 K/9 and 1.99 BB/9. Stewart shows solid command, but doesn't have the stuff to be a quality major league pitcher -- or at least hasn't been able to put it together at the major league level whatsoever. His career MLB ERA of 6.82 over 103 innings exemplifies that.
Maybe the Braves will be able to help re-develop Stewart as starting depth or as a reliever, but as of now this is a very small move that will likely not have much implications to the squad.
