Daniel Shirey-US PRESSWIRE

Marc Hulet of Fangraphs has released his list of the top 15 Atlanta Braves prospects down on the farm, including a couple of surprising names and notable absences. What do you think about his rankings?

Fangraphs' Marc Hulet released his annual list of the top 15 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization here.

  1. Lucas Sims, RHP
  2. Christian Bethancourt, C
  3. José Peraza, SS
  4. Mauricio Cabrera, RHP
  5. J.R. Graham, RHP
  6. Jason Hursh, RHP
  7. Victor Caratini, 3B/C
  8. Tommy La Stella, 2B
  9. Johan Camargo, SS
  10. Aaron Northcraft, RHP
  11. Carlos Pérez, LHP
  12. Josh Elander, OF
  13. Victor Reyes, OF
  14. Wes Parsons, RHP
  15. Cody Martin, RHP

The names occupying the top three spots on the list correlate with many other rankings that we've seen this winter, with Lucas Sims, Christian Bethancourt, and José Peraza in those slots, respectively.

A somewhat surprising name comes in at No. 9 on the list, that being 19-year-old Panamanian shortstop Johan Camargo. Here's what Hulet has to say Camargo:

Camargo isn’t flashy and doesn’t have great range but he’s the kind of player that’s going to make all the plays on the balls he can get to — especially as he matures as fielder and cuts out all of the youthful mistakes. However, he may eventually wind up at second base. At the plate, Camargo makes excellent contact and has a good eye but is still learning how to drive the ball.

Another interesting prospect on Hulet's list is Carlos Pérez, who clocks in at number 11. A recent addition to the Braves' 40-man roster, Pérez is a left-handed relief pitching prospect who enjoyed success in single-A Rome in 2013, posting a 2.25 ERA with an impressive K:BB ratio of 37:8 in 32 innings of work before being rewarded with a late-season cup of coffee with Lynchburg.

Notable absences from Hulet's rankings include players such as Edward Salcedo and Kyle Kubitza, two of the Braves' three notable third base prospects, and pitchers David Hale and Shae Simmons.

What are your thoughts on Hulet's rankings?
