TC Reader Rankings - Braves Top 20 Prospects

Hi all. I haven't been on the site much lately, but that should change now that finals are over. As much as I hate to see Justin Upton and especially Jason Heyward go, their trades (and a few minor deals) have brought a bit of new life to the farm system. We waved goodbye to Kyle Wren, Aaron Northcraft and J.R. Graham, although maybe Graham will be returned. But we also brought in the likes of Max Fried, Jace Peterson, Dustin Peterson, Mallex Smith, Aaron Kurcz, Daniel Winkler, Tyrell Jenkins, and our old friend Arodys Vizcaino. This was not a complete overhaul of the farm system, but things are definitely looking better than they did in October.

A lot of you probably follow John Sickels' rankings lists (as I do), but his Braves list is now out of date, since he created it before any of our deals were made. If you regularly visit MinorLeagueBall, you have probably also seen the Community Prospect List that they do each year. Following that and thinking about how different Sickels' list would be right now, it gave me the idea to do this. I want to create a TC Top 20 Braves Prospect list, for the readers, by the readers.

If it's successful, we can continue doing it every year. And I can even do it on other team sites amd report the results here, if people are interested in all prospects like I am, and not just ours. Even if it's not, hoefully some of you will at least have fun creating your lists. Anyway, I'll finish my blabbering and tell you how I want this done.

  • Create a post with a ranked list of at least 20 Braves prospects. If you want to do more than 20, that's great; list as many as you'd like. If you do less than 20, I probably won't take it into consideration.

  • If you want to give each guy a grade, that's not necessary but would be helpful. I can use it as a tiebreaker or even as a part of my calculations if enough people do it. You can do letter grades, a number scale, a star system; just make sure to explain it if it's not obvious.

  • Also, if you would like to write about some or all of your guys, that would be much appreciated. It can be anything from a sentence to a paragraph, or a predicted outcome (ace, innings-eater, all-star, up-and-down player, etc.) I'd love to hear everyone's opinions about our youngsters, but a simple list is fine if that's all you want to do.

  • So we're all on the same page, anyone batter with less than 150 AB's and any pitcher with less than 50 IP's is eligible. Other criteria are used on different sites, but that's what I like to use.

I'll leave this up for the full 2 weeks, and I encourage discussion amongst each other as long as it's constructive. If enough people do it properly, I will post the results and we can have fun comparing it to the "expert" lists that come out. Thanks in advance to everyone who participates!
