Well, last night didn't go quite as planned for Cinderella. The Royals were stymied by Madison Bumgarner, and James Shields failed to live up to his self-bestowed moniker. This resulted in a convincing 7-1 victory for San Francisco, which has to feel good about stealing the first game of the series on the road. Tonight, Yordano will attempt to book 'em (I'm sorry, I've been hanging out with Chip Caray recently) and even up the series. "Gritty" and "fiery" veteran Jake Peavy will toe the mound for the Giants and attempt to give legitimacy to thousands of bad sportswriters' clichés.
This may not technically be a "must-win" game for Kansas City, but the chances of the Royals clawing back from a 2-0 deficit in San Francisco would be slim-to-none. I'm just hoping for good baseball, but a 7-game series wouldn't upset me!
