With the trade deadline less then a week away it looks like the Braves are actively looking at starting pitching after losing Hudson for the year.
Over the last couple days Jake Peavy has been the name that I've heard linked to the Braves the most. As some of you may remember the Braves came close to getting Peavy after the 2008 season. The rumored deal was Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez, either Jo-Jo Reyes or Charlie Morton, and Blaine Boyer. Looking back even with Peavy's injuries that still would have been a steal of a deal. Escobar was eventually traded in 2010 along with Reyes to the Blue Jays for Alex Gonzalez, Tim Collins, and Tyler Pastornicky. Hernandez and Morton would be traded in 2009 for Nate McLouth.
Its tough to know exactly what the White Sox would want for Peavy. He's owed $4.8M for the remainder of the season and is signed for next season at $14.5M. At least one top 10 prospect and probably 2 in the 10-20 range.
For me Wood and Sims would be the only two off limits.
My top offer would be Mauricio Cabrera, Cody Martin, and Tommy La Stella. I would only part with Martin if the White Sox were willing to chip in a little salary relief in 2014. If they were willing to send $2-4M our way then I would do it.
Anyway looking forward to everyone else's ideas.
