Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 7/24

None of the Braves' minor league affiliates could put up a W Wednesday night.

Gwinnett Braves 1, Durham Bulls 3

Brandon Beachy made what looks to be his last rehab start in Triple-A after the injury to Tim Hudson last night. He threw 86 pitches (51 strikes) over six innings, giving up one earned run on two hits and four walks. Gwinnett actually out-hit Durham 5-4, but could only muster up one run in the 8th. Todd Cunningham and Tyler Pastornicky each had a pair of his and stole their 17th and 9th bases of the season, respectively. Pastornicky also committed his seventh error of the season.

Tommy La Stella reached base twice on a single and a walk, adding his fourth stolen base of the season. Potomac Nationals 9, Lynchburg Hillcats 8

Lynchburg found themselves in an early hole down 6-0 before rallying to tie it up in the 6th. They gave the lead back up and were never able to regain the lead. Part of this was due to the sloppiness of the Lynchburg defense, which committed three errors on the night. Matt Lipka doubled for the second straight night. Kyle Kubitza hit two singles of his own, stealing his eighth base of the season. Josh Elander, Will Skinner and Shawn McGill each added two hits of their own, which included a double from McGill. Starter Greg Ross and first reliever out of the ‘pen Robert Fish both had terrible outings; they issued a combined 14 base runners giving up all nine runs.
