Scoreless through two innings, the Braves got on the board in the top of the third inning against White Sox starter John Danks. Chris Johnson continued his hot hitting with a single to left field to start the inning, and Andrelton Simmons followed with a two-run shot to left field that made it a 2-0 game in favor of Atlanta.
Things stayed tied until the sixth inning, when the Braves broke things open for good. Singles from Joey Terdoslavich and Justin Upton, sandwiched around outs from Jose Constanza and Reed Johnson, brought up Brian McCann with two outs. McCann had an epic 11-pitch plate appearance that ended with his 13th home run of the season in the right field seats to make it a 5-2 game.
Chicago added an RBI double aganst Hudson and an RBI single against reliever Jordan Walden to make it a 5-4 game after eight. Hudson ended the night with a line of 7.1 IP. 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. He did have 14 groundouts compared to one fly-ball out, so Hudson had his sinker working.
Chris Johnson added a RBI single in the top of the ninth to make it 6-4, and Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to seal the game and record his 27th save of the season.
