The Braves are rumored to be one of the teams interested in Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez, a 26-year-old RHP from Cuba. He is a free agent and has been cleared to sign with an MLB team next week.
The Dodgers also are reportedly in the mix, which could drive up the price big time. Early price tags estimates suggest upwards of 5yr/$60M. Considering the Braves' current pitching situation at both the major league and minor league level, I don't know if this would be the best use of available payroll space.
Gonzalez is expected to be an impact starter, which would most certainly help the Braves in the second half down the stretch. He throws a low-90's fastball with a changeup/forkball type pitch to go along with a breaking ball as secondary offerings. You can check him out in the video below...
