After a miserable last few days of injuries, the Braves will look to regain the series lead with a new outfield and lineup. Newly-promoted Jose Constanza will lead off after hitting .250/.321/.276 in Gwinnett, and Reed Johnson will man center field. Joey Terdoslavich will make his first major-league start as he'll play RF. It's quite the makeshift outfield, and we're still waiting to hear about the severity of the injuries.
Scouting Report: The Braves get another hard-thrower in this one, as Homer Bailey will throw in the mid-90s. Bailey utilizes three secondary pitches - slider, curve, and split - and the split has become an increasingly important part of his game, becoming his second-most used pitch in 2013. After seeming to take a step forward last year, he's really taken a big step forward this season, his recent no-hitter notwithstanding.
Analysis: After having average strikeout rates for his entire career, Bailey has taken it to a new level in 2013, striking out 24% of hitters faced while keeping his BB rate at 6%. As if that wasn't enough, the righty is also posting the best GB/FB ratio of his career at 1.53. All of this has lowered his FIP from the high 3s to the high 2s, making him one of the better pitchers in the game.
