Gwinnett couldn’t pull together enough offense against Twins top 100 prospect Kyle Gibson last night. Gibson held the Braves offense to seven hits, all singles, while recording 11 outs via groundout. Jose Constanza reached based four times, three singles and a walk, and stole his ninth base of the season. Sean Gilmartin didn't exactly impress giving up four runs on eight hits. In his past two seasons in Triple-A, Gilmartin has thrown a combined 100.2 innings with a 4.56 ERA and a 68:37 strikeout-to-walk.

Mississippi lost on an ugly finish Tuesday Night. With the score 1-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th, Chase Schreve walked in the game winning run after loading the bases load for the "walkoff-walk". The Mississippi offense could only muster up three hits and two walks, striking out 14 times. 26-year-old Michael Lee had a fine outing, giving up only one run over six. Lee issued a walk for the first time in his last six starts (seven appearances) and is now sporting a very impressive 31:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in Double-A. Lefty Thomas Keeling made his Mississippi debut after coming over in the trade for Juan Francisco Monday, throwing an inning and recording two strikeouts.

- Robby Hefflinger LF: 1-4, 2B (13) R
- David Rohm RF: 1-4, CS (5)
- Kyle Kubitza 3B: 3-4, HR (4), 2R, SB (5)

- John Cornely: 0.1IP, 3H, 3ER, 0BB, K (17.1IP, 6.23 ERA, 26K/10BB)
Well, another one-run loss, a trend with the Braves minor league clubs last night. This time, Lynchburg tied the game in the 9th, scored two runs in the 10th to take the lead, and then proceeded to give up a solo and walk-off two run homer in the bottom half of the inning. Recently turned 24-year-old John Cornely, who pitched the 10th, has struggled his most recent two outings after only giving up only one run in his previous eight. Billy Bullock made his 2013 debut after being suspended 50 games for his second violation of the MiLB Drug Prevention Program. Offensively, Matt Lipka and Kyle Kubitza provided most of the pop, each hitting their fourth home runs of the season. Robby Hefflinger's double extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Game 1: Rome Braves 5, Asheville Tourists 3 (F/7)
- Eric Garcia SS: 1-3, 2B (4), R, BB, CS (2)
- Levi Hyams 2B: 1-4, 2B (7)
- Josh Elander LF: 3-4, 2B (20), 2R
- Trenton Moses 1B: 1-3, HR (1), R, BB
- Tyler Tewell C: 1-3, R, SB (4)
- Blake Brown CF: 1-3
- Patrick Scoggin: 5IP, 7H, 3ER, 2BB, 6K (50.1IP, 4.11 ERA, 39K/19BB)
- Carlos Perez: 1.2IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 3K (28.2IP, 1.26 ERA 32K/7BB)
- Shae Simmons: 0.1IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, K (2.59 ERA, 37K/6BB
In the first game of the Tuesday doubleheader, Rome jumped out to an early lead and was able to hold off Asheville in a 7 inning contest. Josh Elander picked up three hits, including his 20th double of the season, which currently put him second in the Sally League. A sixth round selection in the 2012 draft out of TCU, the 22-year-old has posted a .338/.396/.587 triple slash in 56 games this season. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him get promoted to Lynchburg soon. Patrick Scoggin gave up three runs, two homers, over five innings of work. Shae Simmons came on for the final out to record his league leading 16th save.
Game 2: Rome Braves 0, Asheville Tourists 3 (F/7)
- Eric Garcia SS: 0-3
- Josh Elander LF: 0-3
- Trenton Moses 1B: 1-3, E (2)
- Carlos Franco 3B: 0-2, BB, CS (5)
- Blake Brown CF: 1-1, BB
- Blaine Sims: 4IP, 4H, 2ER, 3BB, 3K (8 IP, 7.88 ERA, 5K/7BB)
- Robert Fish: 2IP, 2H, ER, 2BB, 5K (first app. in 2013)
The second game of Rome’s double-header was ugly; only four batters reached base while striking out nine times. Last year's fifth round pick, Blake Brown, reached base safely both times at the plate and was the only hitter not to strikeout. While only 21, Brown has struggled so far in his adjustment to professional baseball. Robert Fish also made his 2013 debut after missing the entire 2012 season with Tommy John.
