Gwinnett brought their bats to the park Sunday, scoring 11 runs on 10 hits, putting together big five and three run innings in the 6th and 7th, respectively. Joey Terdoslavich continued to impress after hitting his ninth HR of the season, now sporting a .335/.362/.564 triple slash. Aside from David Hale’s one inning of work with two strikeouts in his second appearance back from the DL, the pitching was pretty poor, surrendering 14H, 7ER, 6BB and 6K. Starter Daniel Rodriguez was pulled from the game in the 4th with an apparent arm injury; no word on the severity.

Mississippi won in come from behind fashion Sunday, scoring one in the 8th and two in the 9th to beat Chattanooga. Leadoff hitter Phil Gosselin stayed hot, hitting his first home run of the season. The 24-year-old now has 10 hits in his last 10 games. The bullpen did fine work in relief of Cody Martin, combining for four innings while only allowing four hits and one walk, to go along with eight strikeouts. Mark Lamm struck out the side in the 9th for his sixth save of the season. The righty from Vanderbilt has been solid so far this season, appearing in 22 games (33IP) with a 1.36 ERA and 35:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Lynchburg Hillcats 6, Potomac Nationals 10

Matt Lipka CF: 1-5, R

William Beckwith 1B: 1-3, HR (9), R, BB

Robby Hefflinger LF: 1-4, HR (16), R

Shawn McGill DH: 1-4, HR (1), R

Matt Chaffee: 3IP, 1H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K (3.91ERA, 31K/15BB)

Lynchburg lost to Potomac yesterday after a ugly outing from starter Greg Ross. Ross struggled allowing six walks and seven hits. After earning a well-deserved promoted from Rome earlier in the season, the 23-year-old has seen up and down results in six starts. The real story for Lynchburg was the offense in this one, specifically Robby Hefflinger who belted his league leading 16th HR of the season. The 23-year-old continues to tear up the Carolina League, extending his latest hitting streak to 10 games. Only one other player in the league has amassed double digit home runs. Every batter in the Lynchburg lineup had one hit against the Nationals former top-100 prospect AJ Cole. As a side note, Jayson Werth went deep twice in his fifth minor league rehab game for the Nationals.

Hickory Crawdads 1, Rome Braves 3

Ronald Luna SS: 2-4, R, CS (4)

Josh Elander DH: 1-4, SB (5)

Trenton Moses 1B: 1-4, 2B (7)

Wes Pasrons: 5IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 5K (6.23 ERA, 8K/4BB)

Zach Jadofsky 3IP, 1H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K (3.03 ERA 32K/10BB)

Shae Simmons: 1IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K (2.63 ERA, 36K/6BB)

Rome scratched out a victory over Hickory behind a solid start from 20-year-old Wes Parsons, who picked up his first professional win. Shae Simmons closed the door with two strikeouts in the ninth for his league leading 15th save. In 24 innings this season, the 22 year-old has shown an impressive 36:6 strikeout-to-walk, giving up no home runs. Josh Elander picked up another hit, meaning he has hit safely in eight of his last nine games (six multi-hit games).
