Appropriately enough, on the day Chipper Jones's number 10 was retired, Teheran struck out 10 in six innings in earning his sixth win of the season with a 3-0 win over Arizona.
Atlanta tagged former Brave Randall Delgado for a run in the first inning on Justin Upton's RBI single to score Jason Heyward. Delgado kept his team close, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth, but gave up a home run to Andrelton Simmons leading off the fifth. Delgado gave up eight hits in six innings.
One run was more than enough for Teheran as he scattered four hits - only one was for extra bases - in his six innings. He struck out Paul Goldschmidt twice and Miguel Montero three times among his 10 strikeouts. This was the second time this month Teheran had struck out at least 10 hitters in a start.
Dan Uggla tripled and scored Atlanta's third run on Reed Johnson's bunt in the eighth against former Braves minor leaguer Zeke Spruill. Craig Kimbrel induced a game-ending double play in the ninth to secure his 23rd save.
