Both Joey Terdoslavich and Robby Hefflinger homered, again, Tuesday night.

  • Luis Ayala: 1.1IP, 2H, ER, BB, K (6.1IP, 1.42 ERA 6K/2BB)
  • Cory Rasmus: IP, H, 0ER, 0BB, K (27IP, 2.33 ERA 32K/17BB)

Gwinnett bested Buffalo by one run Tuesday night. Joey Terdoslavich blasted his 18th home run of the season, tying him with teammate Ernesto Mejia for second in the International League. Terdoslavich was recently listed as one of the best performing prospects (24 and under) in Triple-A, according to FanGraphs Scout+ metric. Yohan Flande had a fine start only surrendering two earned in 6.2 innings. Luis Ayala made his third rehab start in a hopeful attempt to rejoin the big league club. Cory Rasmus added to his fine Triple-A numbers, recording his eighth save of the season.

Mississippi Braves 3, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 7

  • Christian Bethancourt C: 2-4, HR (4), R - (.263/.281/.386)
  • Christian Marrero 1B: 1-4, SB (5) - (.237/.395/.397)
  • Edward Salcedo 3B: 0-2, 2 BB, SB (11) - (.272/.340/.448)
  • Jamie Pedroza SS: 0-4 - (.281/.344/.357)
  • Barrett Kleinkencht 1B: 1-4, R - (.230/.289/.356)
  • Michael Lee 6IP, 6H, 4ER, BB, 5K (67.2IP, 4.52 ERA, 43K/9BB)
  • Cristhian Martinez: IP, 2H, 2ER, BB, K (minor league rehab)
  • Pat Egan: IP, 2H, ER, BB, 0K (23IP, 2.35 ERA 20K/7BB)
Mississippi jumped out to a 3-0 lead before giving up multiple runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th as well as an additional run in the 8th. Christian Bethancourt went deep for the second time in three games, and his fourth on the season. Edward Salcedo walked twice and stole his 11th base of the season, upping his success rate to 61% (something the guys talked about in the latest CACast). Cristhian Martinez made his second rehab start, his first in Double-A, and got touched up for two runs in one inning of work. Martinez will hopefully flip places with Alex Wood in the bullpen, if all goes well, after a couple more outings. It won't show up in the box score, but Edward Salcedo missed a back hand attempt at third (was called a hit); his glove still being a major weakness in his game.

Wilmington Blue Rocks 2, Lynchburg Hillcats 3

  • Matt Lipka CF: 1-4, R - (.280/.321/.405)
  • Trenton Moses 1B 0-3 - (.354/.447/.513 A/A+)
  • Robby Hefflinger LF: 1-4, HR (21), R - (.286/.339/.586)
  • Kyle Kubitza 3B: 0-3 - (.278/.399/.484)
  • David Rohm RF: 1-3, 2B (21) - (.293/.343/.409)
  • AJ Holland: 5IP, 13H, 8ER, BB, 3K (82.1IP, 4.37 ERA 53K/38BB)
  • John Cornley 1.1IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 4K (23IP, 5.87 ERA, 36K/11BB)
As you probably saw in the upper summary, Robby Hefflinger continued his torrid power streak, going for his 21st home run of the season. That is by far the best in the Carolina League with the next closest being 13, while only six players have reached double digits. 24-year-old AJ Holland only gave up two earned on 10 hits, pitching into the 8th. John Cornely, a 15th round pick in the 2011 draft, recorded the final four out, all via the strikeout, for his second save of the season.

Kannapolis Intimidators 9, Rome Braves 6 (F/13)

  • Jose Peraza SS: 1-5, 3B (3), 2BB, 2R, SB (25), E (17) - (.261/.317/.349)

  • Josh Elander LF: 2-7, 2BB - (.319/.380/.540)
  • Edison Sanchez 1B: 2-7, HR (2), 2B (6), R, E(2) - (.279/.318/.475)
  • Carlos Franco 3B: 0-5, BB, E(19) - (.224/.305/.286)
  • Felix Marte: 1-3, 3BB - (.276/.322/.403)
  • Blake Brown CF: 0-4, BB - (.201/.280/.305)
  • Wes Parsons: 5.1IP, 7H, 2ER, 0BB, 5K (35.1IP, 4.08 ERA, 32K/7IP)
  • Shae Simmons: IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K (30.2IP, 2.05 ERA, 50K/12BB)
  • Zach Jadofsky: 4IP, 3H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K (43.2IP, 4.12 ERA, 48K/13BB)
  • Alex Wilson: 0.2IP, 4H, 3ER, 0BB, 0K (25.1IP, 3.20, 19K/3BB)
Rome scraped its' way back scoring runs in the 7th, 8th and 9th to tie the score at six, sending the game to extras. It took until the 13th before Kannapolis pushed across three runs in the top of the frame off Alex Wilson. Zach Jadofsky threw four scoreless innings in relief, striking out two. Offensively, there were a lot of plate appearances to go around. Jose Peraza was all over the box score with a triple, two walks and a stolen base. He also committed his 17th error of the season, keeping pace with left-side of the infield partner Carlos Franco, who committed his 19th. 22-year-old Edison Sanchez hit his second home run of the season in the third inning. As a team, Rome was collected 10 walks and 15 strikeouts

Danville Braves 0, Johnson City Cardinals 9

  • Johan Carmargo SS: 1-4
  • Victor Caratini 3B: 2-3, 2B (3)
  • Aris Alcantara 1B: 0-4
  • Connor Lien RF: 0-4
  • Justin Black LF: 0-3
  • Carlos Sanchez C: 1-3, 2B (1)
  • Jean Carlos Gil: 3IP, 3H, 3ER, 2BB, 5K
  • Clint Wrightl: 1.1IP, 4H, 4ER, 0BB, K
  • Dakota Dill: 1.2IP, 3H, ER, 0BB, 3K

It was almost a complete flip of the score from Monday night, as Danville was shutout last night against Johnson City. Victor Caratini was again a bright spot in the Danville offense, collecting two hits including a double. He is now 8-18 in his first tast of professional baseballl.19-year-old catcher, Carlos Sanchez, had the only other extra base hit for the Braves. Danville did not walk in this game. Starter Jean Carlos Gil was touched up in three innings of work giving up three runs. He is back with Danville after pitching 14 innings with Rome in 2012.
