Tied 6-6 in the top of the 10th inning, McCann launched a Thad Weber fastball deep to right center field for his second home run of the game and sixth of the season. Craig Kimbrel slammed the door in the bottom of the 10th for his 16th save of the season.
The Braves got the scoring going in the first inning as they plated three runs off of Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow. A leadoff double by Jordan Schafer and a single by Andrelton Simmons put runners on second and third. Two batters later, Freeman grounded a single into right that scored Schafer. Jose Bautista's errant throw allowed Simmons to come in and score to make it a 2-0 game. Another throwing error allowed Freeman to come in and score, upping Atlanta's early advantage to 3-0.
Toronto stormed right back in the bottom of the first against Atlanta starter Paul Maholm. Three straight doubles, one of the ground-rule variety, followed by a Colby Rasmus single plated four Blue Jay runs and made it a 4-3 game. Schafer promptly tied things up in the top of the second with a homer to right field, his second of the season.
In the bottom of the fourth, Maholm made the mistake of hanging a 62-mile per hour eephus pitch to Bautista, who disposed of it into the left field seats, making it a 5-4 game.
Evan Gattis and McCann launched back-to-back homers in the sixth off of Morrow. Gattis' was the 12th of the season, while this was the first of McCann's two blasts. The duo gave the Braves a 6-5 lead.
