Giants Hammer Braves 8-2

Thearon W. Henderson

The Giants put up 6 runs on Tim Hudson as they rolled to an easy 8-2 win.

Well, that sucked. There's not too much to say about tonight's game, as the Braves put up a stinker against the formerly struggling Matt Cain. San Francisco blooped and bleed Tim Hudson to death in a six-run fourth inning en route to an 8-2 win.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Giants sent 10 men to the plate and put up a six spot. Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, Brandon Belt, Matt Cain, and Marco Scutaro (2x) all had RBI hits, and maybe two of them were hit well. Hudson certainly didn't pitch well, but he was victimized by some terrible luck on balls in play.

Atlanta cut it to 6-2 in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by Brian McCann, his second blast in as many days.

San Francisco got those runs right back in the sixth when Angel Pagan hit a two-run home run of his own.

Most of the Braves' lineup had a wretched approach against Matt Cain all night, swinging at first pitches and eschewing patience. As a result, Cain tossed 8 innings of 3 hit ball, with the only blemish being McCann's jack. He walked two and struck out seven.

Atlanta will look to take game three tomorrow, but it will be a tall task as the Giants send young lefty Madison Bumgarner to the mound. Atlanta will counter with a lefty of their own in Paul Maholm. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
