Wednesday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap

Blake Brown hits a walk off home run for Rome and Brian McCann has a big night. Mississippi wins a rain shortened game against the Smokies behind a solid outing from Michael Lee. Lynchburg gets crushed but La Stella continues to shine.

Tennessee Smokies 0, Mississippi Braves 3 - 5 Innings

In a rain-shortened affair Michael Lee shut down the Smokies long enough to make the game official. The first pitch was delayed for an hour and a half. The Braves scored in the 2nd behind a pair of walks and a double play advanced Christian Marrero to third and then Braeden Schlehuber singled him home. The Braves scored two more in the bottom of the 5th before the game was called with two outs. J.R. Graham will take the hill against the Smokies in game two tomorrow.

Winston-Salem Dash 15, Lynchburg Hillcats 6

The Hillcats offense continued to score runs, but the pitching completely collapsed in this one, giving up 15 runs on 20 hits and 7 walks on top of 4 errors. Tommy La Stella put up yet another impressive game. In three games he has five walks and has yet to strike out along with scoring five runs. And he has still made just three outs in three games. Get him to Atlanta ASAP.

Blake Brown's 10th inning walkoff homer sen the Braves home with a win after Brian McCann hit the game tying homer in the bottom of the 7th. In just four games Brian McCann is the team leader in homers for Rome and he is tied for third in RBI. Jose Peraza has now hit safely in six straight games and is 11-27 in that span. He has knocked two doubles during the streak but he has just three extra base hits this season. After giving up runs in his first five outings, Lucas Sims has pitched five scoreless innings in his past two outings. His three inning stint tonight was his longest of the season, He is holding opponents to a measly .163 BAA, but has issued 12 walks in 14 innings vs just 10 strikeouts.
