A 2 run homer by Ernesto Mejia was all the offense the G-Braves would need for the win tonight. Mejia is leading the league with 8 homers and is tied for the league lead with 23 RBI. As well as he's doing at the plate, the 27 year old is struggling in the field, committing his fifth error tonight in just his 20th game at first base, after committing 7 errors in 95 games at first last season. All-Star Brian McCann played in his first game of the season, beginning his rehab by cracking out a pair of homers. Unfortunately, his defense has been the big concern in his recovery, and his surgically repaired shoulder might have been a problem tonight as he committed a pair of throwing errors. He's scheduled to play 5 games with Rome before playing another 5 with Gwinnett. The rest of the Rome lineup was dangerous as well, led by Levi Hyams' 3 hit performance. Hyams has gone 7-19 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and a walk in his last 4 games. Josh Elander hit his second homer of the year and drove in 3 runs. He's gone 11-32 with 5 doubles, a triple, a homer, 7 RBI, and 5 walks during his 8 game hitting streak. Carlos Franco has gone 6-16 with a double, 3 RBI, and 4 walks in his last 4 games. Casey Kalenkosky drove in 3 runs with his second homer of the year, and he's gone 5-10 with 2 doubles, 2 homers, 6 RBI, and 3 walks in his last 3 games. While the offense was clicking, the defense struggled, committing 4 errors, leading to Rafael Briceno being charged with 4 unearned runs. He was still able to pick up his first win, and has allowed 3 earned runs in 12 innings in his last 2 starts. Lucas Sims made his first scoreless appearance of the year. The Braves are working the 18 year old in slowly, as he's pitched just 11.1 innings in 6 relief appearances so far this season.

Maurico Cabrera will take on Grasshoppers starter Ramon del Orbe on Saturday.
