Open Thread: Braves Look To Salvage Split With Pirates

USA TODAY Sports

An open thread to discuss today's afternoon game between the Braves and the Pirates

Loading Scores

After having their offense shut down for the second night in a row, the Braves look to get back to their winning ways this afternoon and salvage a split with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Atlanta will certainly have a golden opportunity to do so, as the Pirates trot out their fill-in #5 starter, Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez has been a disaster so far this year, so the Braves have a great chance to capitalize if they can be patient. Opposing Sanchez will be Kris Medlen, who's coming off two strong starts in a row.

The Braves line up behind Medlen like this:

  1. B.J. Upton, CF
  2. Ramiro Pena, 2B
  3. Justin Upton, LF
  4. Evan Gattis, 1B
  5. Chris Johnson, 3B
  6. Reed Johnson, RF
  7. Gerald Laird, C
  8. Andrelton Simmons, SS
  9. Kris Medlen, P
Let's go Braves!
