Craig Kimbrel faces off against Andrelton Simmons to determine who is the fans' favorite Atlanta Braves player in 2013.
Talking Chop wants to find out which Atlanta Braves player is the fans' favorite this year. After three weeks of voting, you have determined who your two favorite starting pitchers are, who your two favorite relievers are, and who your four favorite position players are.
This week each player will face off against another player, March Madness style. Bravesetology will pit hitter against pitcher, young against old, favorite against favorite, and you the fan will ultimately determine who will be the Fave Brave 2013.
In the second matchup are the two remaining Braves playing in the World Baseball Classic. Number-2 seed Craig Kimbrel takes on number-7 seed Andrelton Simmons. Here's a little bit about each player:
In just three years time, Craig Kimbrel has gone from a bullpen prospect with control problem to arguably the most dominant pitcher in the game. After winning the National League Rookie of the Year unanimously in 2011, Kimbrel returned for even more greatness this past season. He is now Team USA's closer at the World Baseball Classic and figures to be one of the best closers in baseball for the next decade.
Andrelton Simmons, like Kimbrel, has experienced quite a journey the past couple of years. Once thought of as a pitcher out of an Oklahoma junior college, Simmons breezed through the Braves' system as a shortstop and is now the projected starter and leadoff man in Atlanta. Most feel he's already the best defensive shortstop in the game, and if his performance with the Netherlands in the WBC is any indication, his bat isn't too far behind his glove.
You can vote in two ways. The first is in the poll provided below. The other way is to tweet #TeamKimbrel or #TeamSimmons on Twitter, along with #FaveBrave2013. You've got 24 hours to advance one of these players to the semifinal round.
