Inspired by samxrm, I've decided to embark on a sort of expansion of that theme. This is just for fun to help pass the time between the end of football and the beginning of Spring Training. So here it is.
Compile a list of all time (favorite, great, insert adjective of your choice) completely RH and completely LH lineups, starting pitching staffs, and closers...what would that look like? Note: Switch hitters like Chipper and Furcal must bat in one lineup or the other.
Your mileage may vary, but here are mine:
All RH Braves:
C: Javy Lopez
1B: Andres Galarraga
2B: Martin Prado
SS: Edgar Renteria
3B: Vinny Castilla
RF: Hank Aaron
CF: Andruw Jones
LF: Gary Sheffield
SP: Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Kevin Millwood, Phil Niekro, Tim Hudson
Closer: Craig Kimbrel
Lineup Construction:
1. Martin Prado
2. Edgar Renteria
3. Hank Aaron
4. Gary Sheffield
5. Andres Galarraga
6. Vinny Castilla
7. Javy Lopez
8. Andruw Jones
All LH Braves:
C: Brian McCann
1B: Fred McGriff
2B: Keith Lockhart
SS: Rafael Furcal
3B: Chipper Jones
RF: Jason Heyward
CF: JD Drew
LF: Ryan Klesko
SP: Tom Glavine, Warren Spahn, Denny Neagle, Mike Hampton, Steve Avery
Closer: John Rocker
Lineup Construction:
1. Rafael Furcal
2. Jason Heyward
3. Chipper Jones
4. Fred McGriff
5. JD Drew
6. Brian McCann
7. Ryan Klesko
8. Keith Lockhart
Now here is where we wildly speculate, based on zero simulations except what goes on in our noggins. Which of these teams is good enough to beat the other in a seven game World Series, assuming each player is at their peak? (I understand that at least 25 man rosters would need to be compiled for a playoff series, but that's not what we're doing here.) And if you disagree with my lineups, what are yours?
Poll
Who wins a seven game World Series between the Braves righties and lefties listed above?

The Lefties (13 votes)
