A couple of days late this week because of some unforeseen events, but back again for the third edition of the winter league round up. As a reminder, you can find all of the organizations winter league stats (including the AFL) here.
Dominican Winter League
- Christian Bethancourt: 3-23, 2BB/6K – Bethancourt struggled again this week, collecting one hit with a run scored. He reportedly also struggled a bit behind the plate collecting two errors and allowing two passed balls in their game Tuesday. While he is hands down MLB ready defensively, pitch blocking is one area where there is still room for him to improve upon.
- Edward Salcedo: 4-23, BB/5K – Box scores were a little sketchy on Salcedo this week. It reported him only playing in Saturday's game, but not receiving any plate appearances..
- Omar Luna: 0-4, 3K – Luna did not appear in any games this week.
- Wifrin Obispo: 9.1IP, 5H, 5ER, 6BB, 9K – There were a couple of nice outings for Obispo this week. He appeared in three games, throwing one inning apiece, striking out four. The 6'1" right-hander recorded twice as many strikeouts as walks in 63.2 innings with Gwinnett.

Venezuelan Winter League
- Ernesto Mejia: 22G, .217/.347/.349, 15BB/25K – Again, there was a bit of incompleteness in the box scores for Mejia. He reportedly collected five hits the past week, including a three walk game on Friday. Unlike last winter league season, Mejia hasn't shown off the big power yet this season, slugging .349 compared to .551 last winter.
- Jose Martinez: 25G, .231/.306/.369, 7BB/9K – Again, incompleteness. Martinez reportedly made a couple of pinch hit appearances but failed to reach base.
- Jose Yepez: 11G, .125/.200/.250, 2BB/3K – STILL a 32-year-old catcher in Triple-A with a .261 on-base…
- Emerson Landoni 1-3, BB – Landoni did not appear in any games this week.
- Omar Poveda 17.2IP, 25H, 19ER, 9BB, 19K – Poveda was roughed up again this past week. He made two starts, but failed to record an out in the first start, giving up five runs on six hits. The second start wasn't much better, but he did make it into the 4th, giving up three earned (five total) on five hits. We'll just say it wasn't the greatest week for the 26-year-old righty.
