After a tough series with the Dodgers, it was a great season nonetheless. I still think we had one of the best teams. I think one of the biggest reasons we lost were due to injuries, confidence, and management. As it is probably way to early to start thinking about roster moves, I can't help but to give my input on an interesting topic. Potential trades. Something I think is going to be vital is finding good veterans that can help our team win now. Hear are potential trade targets I think we should look at.
Skip Schumaker, OF- Yes he is 33, but he is a great bench player that is versatile. He can play 2B and a LF and CF. 3 positions that I think we need a littler help with. He has shown with the cardinals he can hit over .300 and play solid defense. He would be a great spot starter and late inning fill in. He also doesn't strike out a lot. Something obviously the Braves need to cut down on (led NL in strikeouts).
Ryan Raburn, OF, IF- He's another player capable of playing numerous positions (2B, 3B, LF, RF) and still has pretty good pop. With only 243 ABs last year he still managed to hit 16 home runs. He is pretty bad in the field but if he can come in late in the game and have some nice ABs I'm all for it. Good power off the bench is very important in the league right now.
Kyle Seager, 3B- As I really liked what I saw from Chris Johnson this year, I'm still not sure if he is the answer long term. I've seen a few people mention Seagers name and I actually like the idea. He is a great player with a lot of upside. He has tremendous power as well and he will only get better.
David Price, SP- I've already seen a few articles that have mentioned Price's name. Now, when you first hear his name I'm sure you guys think that this is highly unlikely and rightfully so. I thought the same thing at first but now after thinking about it, I think we should go after him hard. However, if that means giving up top prospect Lucas Sims, who I am very high on, then I think we should forget about it. Building the trade around starting pitchers JR Graham and Sean Gilmartin, who's ETAs are both in 2014, would be ideal. I think after that we give them someone like Cody Martin/Aaron Northcraft and Matt Lipka. I think that's a pretty fair trade, for what it's worth.
Now, I have heard a few other names thrown around. Jeff Samardzija, Matt Garza, David Dejesus, and Chase Headley are all names that have been tossed around. Let me know in the comments of any players I'm missing or any players you want. Also, let me know what you want our FO to do during the offseason.
