Rehabbing Simmons Can't Help Lynchburg Win As Wilmington Evens Series In Thursday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Playoff Action

Andrelton Simmons went 1-4 with a walk and a steal in a rehab appearance for Lynchburg tonight.

A rehabbing Andrelton Simmons couldn't help Lynchburg win the second game of their playoff series, as their pitching staff allowed Wilmington to score 12 runs and win the game, evening the series at 1 game apiece.

Lynchburg Hillcats 3, Wilminton Blue Rocks 12

  • Andrelton Simmons DH 1-4, BB, SB
  • Tommy La Stella 2B 1-3, 2 RBI, BB
  • Adam Milligan RF 1-3
  • Dan Brewer LF 2-4
  • Dimasther Delgado 4 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 5 K
  • Ian Marshall 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K

Lynchburg absolutely dominated Wilmington in a 8-0 win in Game 1 of the series, but the Blue Rocks turned the table tonight, cruising to a 12-3 victory to even the series. Dimather Delgado was rolling along with 2 outs in the third before giving up a walk, then a pair of singles, a throwing error by Edward Salcedo, and a Matt Fields homer left the HIllcats in a 4-1 hole they would never overcome. Delgado would allow another run in the fourth and relievers Ryan Weber and Chasen Shreve would combine to allow 7 earned runs in 4 innings of work. Andrelton Simmons, the 2011 Carolina League batting champion with Lynchburg, made a rehab appearance as the DH, going 1-4 with a walk and a steal. Tommy La Stella continued his recent hot stretch by reaching base twice and driving in a pair of runs.

The deciding Game 3 will take place Friday night in Lynchburg, with Aaron Northcraft scheduled to face Wilmington's Leondy Perez. Andrelton Simmons will continue his rehab, starting at shortstop.

Rome Braves - Off

After winning Game 1 of their series against the Asheville Tourists last night, Rome was off tonight. Game 2 of the series will take place Friday night in Asheville, with Greg Ross scheduled to take on Asheville's Tyler Anderson.
