The World Baseball Classic qualifying is going on right now (didn't you know), and the Atlanta Braves organization has some minor league players participating. One of those players is Matt Weaver, an infielder who has been in the Atlanta system for four years. He's playing for Germany in the World Baseball Classic, and helped power them to a win over the Czech Republic with a grand slam:
The other Braves farmhand I know of playing in the WBC is Tim Smith, playing for Team Canada, where Chris Reitsma is a coach. Former Braves farmhand Barbaro Canizarez is on the Spanish roster. Speedster Antoan Richardson, who saw some time in the Majors last year with Atlanta, is on the roster for Great Britain. Joining Weaver on the German roster is former Braves pitcher Will Ohman.
