Martin Prado is awesome at baseball. He can hit. He can run. He can play any position on the diamond. Truly freaking awesome.
In 2012 Martin played 33 innings at 1B, 65 at 2B, 177.1 at 3B, 75.1 at SS, and 929.2 in the OF. He had a positive UZR at each of them (hiSSS!). All while producing a .344wOBA at the plate, a true Renaissance man. This begs the question: Would you tell da Vinci he could only do one activity on a given day? Hell no! You would say, "Hey da Vinci, you wanna paint, paint. You wanna sculpt, sculpt. You wanna make little flying machines? Knock yourself out."
So finally to the point. I have a proposition. There is a very real chance the Bravos will clinch home field advantage for the do-or-die playoff game before their last regular season home game (currently 6 up on St. Louis). For that last home game I would LOVE to see Marteen become the 5th player in Major League history to play an inning at all 9 positions. The Braves could announce it beforehand and make it an occasion, sell some tickets for an otherwise meaningless game, add to the general awesomeness that is Marteen, etc. The only question mark is can he pitch and catch for an inning? I bet he can.
So in closing, I suggest we let every outlet (the TC, the AJC, the Braves Facebook and Twitter, etc.) know that we want to see Martin Prado make Braves history in the last regular season home game. Thoughts?
