Braves Cruise To 6-1 Win Over Miami In Series Finale

The rain cut short another good start from Mike Minor.

Atlanta posted three-run innings in the first and second and cruised the rest of the way to a 6-1 victory over the Marlins to clinch the series win.

Back-to-back one out singles from Reed Johnson and Jason Heyward against Marlins starter Nathan Evoaldi got things going in the top of the first. Chipper Jones followed with a double to center, scoring both runners to make it a 2-0 game.

Three batters later, Dan Uggla singled to left to bring home Chipper and make it a 3-0 game.

The Braves struck again in the second, as Michael Bourn singled and Reed Johnson was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for Heyward. Heyward lined a single to left, scoring Bourn and upping Atlanta's advantage to 4-0.

Freddie Freeman lined a double to right field three batters later to plate both Johnson and Heyward,

A rain delay came in the top of the fourth with the lead at 6-0, and it ended what was another good start from Mike Minor. His line was 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K.

Cristhian Martinez replaced Minor after the delay, and pitched three innings of one-run ball. The only run he allowed came on a Jose Reyes triple to left and a sacrifice fly from Carlos Lee.

Craig Kimbrel, who hadn't pitched since Saturday, entered and struck out the side in the ninth to close out the win.
