Maybe I was distracted by the fact that ESPN only talks about the Phillies, Red Sox and Yankees.
Maybe I was oblivious when Tim Hudson was pitching for the A's in games that ended at 1:35 am EST.
But whatever the reason, it just hit me today how CLUTCH our boy Huddy really is! Sure, I knew he was damn good at inducing grounders. Yes, I knew that his balls all have great movement. And, of course, I knew that the guy can hit better than Paul Janish or the pre-steroid version of Melky Cabrera. But until I looked it up, I had no idea how LEGENDARY his stats are.
Here is the list of pitchers who have pitched since 1900 and won 150+ games, listed in order of their winning percentages:
1. Whitey Ford
3. Lefty Grove
4. Christy Mathewson
5. Roy Halladay
7. Tim Hudson
No Smoltz. No Glavine. Hell, no Maddux. Despite the fact that those 3 all pitched for the Braves back when wins came 100+ a season. INCREDIBLE.
Here's to you, Huddy. You da man!
