Mike Minor got no run support for the second straight start, and Atlanta's offense flailed against lefty Eric Stults in losing to the San Diego Padres 4-1.

Atlanta's Monday woes reared their ugly head again. No Braves hitter reached base until the fourth inning, and by then San Diego already had a 1-0 lead on Cameron Maybin's sacrifice fly in the second.

Minor escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fourth, but with two on and one out in the fifth, Chase Headley dropped a run-scoring single to left. Chris Denorfia led off the sixth with a triple and scored on Yonder Alonso's base hit to center. That was all for Minor, who allowed nine hits in his six innings while striking out three.

Chad Durbin entered in the seventh and surrendered a two-out home run to Chase Headley, making the score 4-0. Meanwhile, Atlanta only had three hits - all singles - against Stults through seven innings, but managed to spoil the shutout with two outs in the eighth when Martin Prado lined a triple to right, scoring Michael Bourn, but nothing more. Atlanta hitters hit 10 fly ball outs, and not one leadoff hitter reached base. Three runners were left in scoring position, all three at third base. Neither team issued a walk.
