Congrats to Michael Bourn
Even though he did not win the National League "Final Vote" contest, Michael Bourn will still venture out to Kansas City next week as a part of the National League All-Star team.
It was announced this afternoon that Desmond of the Washington Nationals would be missing the game due to a left oblique strain. Bourn's addition to the team gives Atlanta four all-stars in Craig Kimbrel, Dan Uggla, and Chipper Jones.
This will be Bourn's second All-Star game appearance. His first came in 2010 as a member of the Houston Astros.
While this wasn't the most conventional way for him to get in, no one can argue that Bourn isn't a deserving selection. Bourn is having a career season in what is also a contract year, as he is hitting .305/.360/.448 with a career high seven home runs and 23 stolen bases.
So far, he's been worth 4.3 wins above replacement according to Fangraphs.
