Brewer Hits For Cycle, Anselment Homers Twice, And Wood Picks Up First Win In Sunday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Action

Alex Wood picked up the first win of his professional career tonight.

Dan Brewer hit for the cycle, Chase Andselment hit a pair of homers, Todd Cunningham and Carlos Franco extended their hitting streaks, Cody Martin and Alex Wood had great starts, and Julio Teheran had an effectively wild start.

Ernesto Mejia and Stefan Gartrell had identical days, both going 1-3 with a solo homer and a walk. In the month of July, Mejia is hitting .327 with a 1.016 OPS, 9 doubles, 7 homers, and 22 RBI in 98 at bats and Gartrell is hitting .397 with a 1.136 OPS, 6 doubles, 5 homers, and 12 RBI. Julio Teheran was wild, allowing 5 walks in 5 innings, as many walks as he'd given up in 21 innings over his last 4 starts, but he was able to limit the damage, allowing just 1 earned run today after allowing 20 earned in those previous 4 starts.

After a 4 game rehab stint in the GCL that saw him go 6-12 with a RBI and a walk, Evan Gattis returned to the M-Braves lineup for the first time since May 19th, rapping out a pair of singles. Todd Cunningham extended his hitting streak to 9 games, and he's gone 13-35 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, 7 RBI, 6 walks, and 2 steals in that stretch. During the month of July, he's hitting .352 with a .940 OPS, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 2 homers, 12 RBI, and 4 steals in 91 at bats. Joey Terdoslavich doubled to extend his hitting streak to 5 games, going 8-20 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI in that stretch. Brent Leach had only allowed 3 earned runs in 18 innings in his first 8 appearances with Mississippi, but he allowed 4 earned runs in 6 innings today.
