Brett Leach had pitched well with Mississippi, putting up a 1.59 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 17 innings over 7 appearances, but his first appearance with Gwinnett was just awful, as he allowed 7 earned runs while recording just 1 out. Billy Bullock also struggled today, allowing 3 earned runs in 1.2 innings, and the 24 year old righty has allowed at least 1 earned run in his last 7 appearances, ballooning his ERA to 12.86 and his WHIP to 2.79 in 14 innings over 9 total appearances with the G-Braves. The only real positive for him is that he's striking out 13.5 batters per 9 innings. Cory Gearrin made his second appearance since returning from the DL, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings and striking out 2. Luis Durango was 3-19 over his last 7 games, but he was 3-5 tonight. The 25 year old first baseman was an 11th round pick of the Athletics in 2009 and hit .176 with a .573 OPS in 70 games with AA Midland this year before the Athletics released him. Unfortunately, he's also struck out 8 times in those 3 games, giving him 123 strikeouts in 316 at bats between Lynchburg and Mississippi this year.
