Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals Series Preview

With Melky Cabrera and the San Francisco Giants finally out of town, Atlanta heads up north for a four-game series over three days against the Washington Nationals.

Washington is 4-3 since the All-Star break, and has an overall record of 53-37 that puts them 3.5 games above the Atlanta Braves.

Offense:

As team, the Nationals rank eighth in the National League in batting average (.253), tenth in on-base average (.315), tied for fifth in slugging (.413), seventh in wOBA (.315), and tied for sixth in wRC+ (96).

Individually, Ian Desmond isn't walking at all (4.9% walk rate), but is hitting for power as evidenced by his .289/.323/.513 with a .359 wOBA and 126 wRC+. Adam LaRoche is hitting well, sporting a line of .256/.337/.489 with a .346 wOBA and 118 wRC+.
