Melky Cabrera peeved a number of people with his taunting yesterday, leading some to believe there would be some retaliation, but Tim Hudson and the Braves responded in a more civil manner: by winning.

Hudson carried a strong outing into the eighth inning, Freddie Freeman and David Ross continued their hot hitting and Atlanta staved off a sweep, beating the Giants 3-2.

Three singles in the second inning gave the Giants a one-run lead for Madison Bumgarner, but Freddie Freeman launched the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the second for a game-tying home run. In the third inning, Paul Janish was at second with one out when Michael Bourn drove him in with a triple to the left field gap for a 2-1 lead.

Atlanta added another run in the fourth when David Ross belted a two-out homer to center off Bumgarner. No Braves hitter reached the rest of the game, but the three runs were enough for Hudson; he induced 10 groundouts and struck out three.

Melky led off the eighth with a triple and scored on Buster Posey's sacrifice fly, but his team was denied any further opportunities. Craig Kimbrel dispatched of the Giants with ease in the ninth in earning his 28th save of the season.

Freeman extended his hitting streak to 10 games and Ross now has a nine-game streak.
