My experience meeting Andrelton Simmons

So, I ran into Andrelton Simmons at Lenox Mall this afternoon while out shopping with my wife and daughter. I immediately recognized him, but at first did not want to bother him as I figured he probably wanted to enjoy his off day and I did not want to make a scene of it. However, I could not really miss the chance to speak with him in person, so I quietly went over and said hi. His first reaction was to act like he did not know who I was talking about, but he very soon realized that I knew who he was, and he broke a smile.

The reason I decided to fan post about it is that, I can tell you that, he really is a very down-to-earth truly nice humble guy. I told him how much we enjoy watching his incredible defense, and that I thought he should be considered in the Rookie of the Year voting, he broke a smile and said thanks. I did not really want to disturb him any more so, I laid off and went to play with my 2-year old daughter who was running amok in the store. To my surprise, Andrelton turned and smiled and played with my daughter for a second.

A lot of famous sports players can be very aloof in public and will not talk to people, not Andrelton. While he is very low key and soft spoken, the guy is one of the nicest, down to earth people you can meet. I am proud and glad to have that kind of person in our organization....and I sure don't mind his perpetual highlight reels on defense or his .300 avg. offense as a rookie either. I hope he stays in Atlanta for a long time.

Also, I can report that he is currently wearing a hard plaster cast on his throwing arm extending from his hand to mid-wrist.
