It wasn't the prettiest game of the season, but Atlanta came away with a win on the night it retired John Smoltz's iconic number 29.

With Jason Heyward on second in the bottom of the tenth after beating out an infield single and advancing on a sacrifice bunt, Heyward stole third and came around to score the winning run on an errant throw down to third.

Brandon Beachy helped himself out in the third, and it led to the first Atlanta run of the game. He led off the inning with an infield single against Kyle Drabek, and then advanced to third two batters later on a Michael Bourn double.

After a Martin Prado groundout, Brian McCann walked to load the bases for Dan Uggla. Uggla worked himself a walk as well, bringing in Beachy to make it a 1-0 game.

Things stayed that way until the sixth, when Beachy began the frame with close to 100 pitches and appeared out of gas. Jose Bautista launched a badly located fastball into the left field stands for his 16th home run of the season, tying the game at one.

A single by Edwin Encarnacion and a walk to Kelly Johnson ended the night for Beachy. A sacrifice bunt by Yunel Escobar moved the runners up, and Encarnacion came in to score on a fielders choice from J.P. Arencibia. That made it a 2-1 game in favor of Toronto.

The final line on Beachy was 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 6 K. He pitched decently well, but threw far too many pitches and had trouble with walks. Many of his pitches were up, including both his fastball and curveball.

The Braves battled back in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own, chasing Drabek in the process. Uggla walked to start, and then came all the way around to score on a laser line-drive double from Jason Heyward. After the pitching change, Heyward advanced to third on a sacrifice fly.

After Andrelton Simmons walked to put runners on first and third, Toronto made another pitching change, bringing in Chad Beck. Beck attempted to do a third to first move, but Simmons went ahead and stole second, and the umpires called a balk on Beck in the process. That allowed Heyward to come in and score, making it a 3-2 game.

Jonny Venters pitched a scoreless seventh, and Atlanta loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but couldn't score.

Eric O' Flaherty could not repeat Venter's scoreless outing in the eighth. Encarnacion doubled to start, and advanced to third on a grounder from Johnson. Escobar followed with another grounder, bringing in Encarnacion to score and tie things at three.

Prado reached third in the ninth against Jason Frasor, but was stranded there.

Cristhian Martinez pitched a scoreless tenth for Atlanta.
