Am I the only person who doesn't really buy into WAR? I've seen a lot of sabremetrics folks babbling over it, and I've seen it creep into a lot of conversations where once I would only have heard average RBIs and OPS, but while I see some use in it, I don't think it is anywhere near the all encompassing stat folks say it is.

Before you go flaming, I've done a little research into it and I think it has some uses, but I really don't think that it accounts for things like most people say it does. So please, I'm looking as much for explanations of why people are so high on it as well as individual thoughts on the measurement itself.
