Atlanta jumped out to another early lead and held on for a 6-4 victory over Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Jason Heyward started off the scoring in the first with a solo-shot to center, his 12th of the year, that gave the Braves a 1-0 lead.

Things stayed that way until the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks to some help from Arizona. Trevor Cahill walked Chipper Jones to start the inning, and he then advanced to second on a single from Freddie Freeman.

Andrelton Simmons followed with a chopper to Cahill, and Cahill's throw to second ended up in the outfield, allowing Chipper to score and put runners on second and third with no outs. Cahill then walked Tommy Hanson (!!!) to load the bases for Michael Bourn, who brought in Freeman on a sacrifice fly.

With the lead at 3-0, Heyward drew another walk to load the bases for Martin Prado. Prado followed with a sacrifice fly of his own, brining in Simmons and making it a 4-0 game.

Two more runs were tacked on in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a Chipper Jones two-run homer to dead centerfield. The old man still has it.

Hanson continued to cruise until the top of the seventh, when things just fell apart. Back-to-back singles brought Ryan Roberts to the plate, and Roberts launched a ball into the left field seats for a three-run homer. That chased Hanson from the game, and in came Jonny Venters.

Venters allowed a solo homer to Chris Young two batters later, cutting the lead to 6-4. That would be as close as Arizona would get.

Craig Kimbrel entered in the ninth, and struck out the side in dominating fashion. The scoreless inning of relief gave him his 22nd save of the season.
