Beachy Spectacular and Offense Keeps Rolling as Braves win 7-2

Freddie came up big today at Coors Field as the Braves win 7-2

The Braves wrapped up their three game series against the Rockies with yet another offensive outpouring and took the finale by a score of 7-2. Brandon Beachy was stellar all afternoon and Freddie Freeman continued to punish Rockies pitching at Coors Field. His towering homer in the third inning was his fourth in the Colorado ballpark.

That Freeman homer put the Braves on the board by scoring both Michael Bourn and Martin Prado, who had gotten on base in front of the first baseman. The Braves added a run during the next inning. Jason Heyward walked to start the inning, and was followed by two line drives off the bats of Juan Francisco and David Ross to load the bags. The Rockies were able to throw out David Ross at second on a Tyler Pastornicky grounder, but Jason Heyward crossed the plate to extend the lead to 4-0.

Hilarity ensued in the sixth inning when Freddie Freeman legged out his first career triple. A person with gap power like him would typically have notched a triple by this point in his career, but as we all know, Freddie runs about as fast as a fifty year old catcher. Uggla drove him in with a liner into left field and after another Heyward walk, Juan Francisco drove Uggla across the plate to put Atlanta up 6-0. That ultimately ended Juan Nicasio's day after five and a third.

The Rockies struck back in the seventh, but it was not nearly enough. Troy Tulowitski singled for the Rockies first base hit since the second inning. He moved to third after a bunt and a wild pitch and was driven in by a Michael Cuddyer base hit. Beachy loaded the bases after another base hit and walk and was pulled for Cristhian Martinez. C-Mart was terrific for the remaining two and two thirds, though a grounder by Tyler Colvin drove in one more run in the inning. Uggla ripped a homer into the left field seats during the eighth to make the game a 7-2 affair, where it would ultimately end.
