Let me lay out the background on this story. I live in the St. Louis Metro area in a sea of Red and White wearing Cardinal Fans. I'm originally from NC and have been a die-hard Bravos fan now for 18 years (i'm 25 years old). Moving here 3 years ago to be stationed at Scott AFB, IL, I reinvigorated my love for baseball. Hell, the Cardinals give free SRO tickets to military.
Late Summer of 2009 was my first Braves game. It was a Friday night, a pitchers duel and I was sitting behind the right field foul pole. The Braves were up 1-0 in the late innings and Yadier Molina hit a liner to Right Fielder Ryan Church. Church gunned the ball to McCann and Mac tagged out Holliday at the plate to keep the lead. The Braves went on to win that night and sweep the series. That was the last time I have saw a Braves win. 2009!!! Since then they have lost 7 consecutive games in Busch stadium. A four game sweep in 2010 and a three game sweep in 2011. The most memorable was the game where Kimbrel blew the save in the 9th and the Cardinals went in the win the game in the 10th during our miserable September of last year.
After that series, my most hated team changed from the Phillies to the Cardinals. I hate how successful they have been against our Tomahawks. I hate how Bandwagon their fans are. I hate how uneducated about baseball they are. And finally, I hate how they call themselves Baseball's best fans. That being said, this will probably be the last series I get to seem them in Busch Stadium as I expect to get orders to another duty station within the next 6-8 months. All I want for Christmas is a series win in St. Louis. Break out your rabbit foot and let's root the boys on!
