This Easter weekend, lots of kids went hunting for Easter eggs, hoping to find money, candy, or other goodies. In the opening weekend of 2012, the Braves went searching for victories and got three Easter eggs in the win column. Watching the Braves getting swept is painful, but especially so when it's at the hands of the Mets.

Tommy Hanson's first Opening Day start was a good one, only one run allowed in five innings. The only problem is that his mound opponent was Johan Santana. He was making his first start since September 2010 and one is usually enough for him (it was).

Jair Jurrjens and Mike Minor, on the other hand, didn't have very spectacular outings: Jurrjens allowing seven hits and three runs in 4.1 innings and Minor surrendered six runs on six hits and walked four. Minor's start was going well until the fifth when he gave up a two-out hit to the pitcher (Jon Niese) which led to two runs and then everything fell apart in the sixth. Niese had a no-hitter up until the seventh inning.

Through their first 24 innings, the Braves scored a total of TWO runs, and that was Martin Prado's two-run homer in Saturday's game. In the seventh inning of Sunday's game, they score FOUR. We can only hope this was a sign of better offensive output than what was displayed the first two games.

Daniel Murphy and David Wright were a combined 11-for-22 with five RBI and four extra-base hits (three doubles, one HR). Ike Davis, on the other hand, was 0-for-11 with five strikeouts.

Lucas Duda's two-HR game Saturday was the first such game of his career. Ditto for Ruben Tejada's four-hit game Sunday.

The Mets honored Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter before the start of play in Thursday's opener. Carter died of brain cancer this past February.

Shake it off and let's beat the Astros.
