Rome's Pitching Gets Obliterated While Simmons, Leonard, And Bethancourt Lead A Mississippi Vicotry In Wednesday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Action

Joe Leonard had 3 hits and 4 RBI in a big Mississippi win.

Rome pitchers allowed 3 touchdowns and a field goal, Andrelton Simmons, Joe Leonard, and Christian Bethancourt had big days in a Mississippi win, and, with the exception of Braeden Schlehuber, Lynchburg's hot offense was cooled considerably.

Julio Teheran had a poor start, allowing 4 runs and 4 walks without making it through the fifth inning. In his last 2 starts he had tossed 10.2 scoreless innings after allowing 3 runs in just 1.2 innings in his first start of the year. After tossing 12.2 scoreless innings to start the season, Buddy Carlyle allowed 3 runs in 2.1 innings tonight. Luis Durango had a 3 hit night, making him 5-9 in his last 2 games. Josh Wilson had a pair of singles, making him 5-8 in his last 2 games. Joey Terdoslavich went 1-4, breaking a 0-14 stretch.

Ronan Pacheco continues to struggle, allowing 4 runs and 4 walks in 4 innings. Rome Braves 2, Hagerstown Suns 24

  • Edison Sanchez 1B 3-4, 2 RBI, .191 AVG
  • Carlos Perez 2 IP, 7 ER, 8 H, 3 BB, 5 K, 15.23 ERA

Rome set some ugly records tonight, allowing the most runs, 24, and hits, 24, in team history. Starter Carlos Perez allowed 7 run in just 2 innings, and in his last 3 starts he has a 22.00 ERA and a 3.88 WHIP. Ernesto Silva followed him, allowing another 7 runs in 3 innings of work, ballooning his ERA from 3.17 to 6.91. Cole Rohrbough had tossed 5 scoreless innings over 5 appearances to start the season, but he allowed 4 runs in 1.2 innings of work tonight. Joe Lucas had not made a scoreless appearance this season, and he continued that trend tonight, allowing 3 runs in 1.1 innings, giving him a 7.88 ERA and a 2.13 WHIP on the year. Things got so bad that the R-Braves turned to second baseman Fernando de los Santo to pitch the final inning, and he allowed 3 runs as well. It's hard to believe anything positive happened for Rome today, but Edison Sanchez had a 3 hit day and drove in both of the team's runs.

Rafael Bricenio will face the red hot Suns tomorrow.
