Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks Series Recap

Chipper and the Braves are off to LA after taking three of four from Arizona.

Atlanta kept up its winning ways after heading out west, taking three of four from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Some notes from the series:

Freddie Freeman put on a show with his family in attendance. He went 7-15 at the plate with nine RBI's, four runs scored, and two home runs.

Mike Minor, Brandon Beachy, and Tommy Hanson all pitched great in the first three games of the series. The trio combined for 22.1 innings pitched, 14 hits, four runs, three earned runs, 21 strikeouts, and only two walks.

The Braves racked up 26 runs and 44 hits over the course of the four-game series, which is just a ridiculous amount. Even with the offensive struggles Sunday, there are plenty of reasons to be very optimistic about Atlanta's offense going forward.

Michael Bourn certainly enjoyed his stay in Arizona, as he had nine hits over the four games. Two of those hits were doubles, and he also added a stolen base.

Gerardo Parra finally got the Diamondbacks offense going on Sunday, crushing a terrible pitch by Randall Delgado into the right field seats for a grand slam.

It's hard not to go back and mention how great Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel were on Saturday. The duo struck out the side in the eighth and ninth innings respectively, and all six strikeouts were swinging.

Martin Prado also had a productive series, with five hits to go along with four runs scored. He also had a pair of fantastic defensive plays as well during the series. Prado threw out Jason Kubel at home plate during Thursday's game, and robbed Miguel Montero of a possible home run on Sunday. Atlanta's outfield defense with Prado, Bourn, and Jason Heyward is certainly one of the best in baseball.

Up Next:

The Braves continue their western road trip with a visit to Los Angeles for a three-game series against the Dodgers. First pitch is Monday night at 10:10 pm ET.
