Braves Beat Diamondbacks 9-1 Behind Brandon Beachy, Freddie Freeman

Brandon Beachy is really good. That is all.

Different game, same story. Yet again, Atlanta got a great performance from its starting pitcher, and the offense battered Arizona pitching en route to a 9-1 win.

Brandon Beachy threw 7.1 dominant innings, allowing only four hits while striking out five and walking one. He came back out for the eighth, but didn't make it out of the inning.

The game stayed scoreless until the third inning and Atlanta was the team to break open the scoring. Martin Prado singled with one out, and then came all the way around to score on a double down the right field line from Freddie Freeman off of Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill.

Atlanta added two more in the fifth inning, as Brian McCann launched a two-run homer into the right field to make it 3-0 Braves.

The scoring continued in the sixth as Chipper Jones reached on an error to start the inning. Jason Heyward followed with a single, extending his hitting streak to ten games. A fielders choice from Pastornicky put runners on first and third (Heyward was out at second) for Beachy, who brought in Chipper with a safety squeeze to up the lead to 4-0. Michael Bourn followed with double, scoring Pastornicky and moving Beachy to third.

The last batter that Cahill faced was Prado, who brought in Beachy with a sacrifice fly to center. Freeman greeted reliever Craig Breslow with yet another double, this one down the left field line, scoring Bourn and making it 7-0 Atlanta.

Chad Durbin came in in relief for Beachy in the eighth, and managed to record a scoreless inning. He allowed one hit and struck out one as well.

The Braves weren't done scoring quite yet, as they added two more runs in the ninth inning. Dan Uggla's single scored Freeman, making it a 8-0 game in favor of Atlanta. Heyward walked with the bases loaded, bringing in McCann to up the advantage to 9-0.

The Diamondbacks scored a run in the ninth off Craig Kimbrel, but that's all the Arizona offense could muster.

Atlanta has scored 42 runs during this four game winning streak.
