From the post-game interview by DOB over at the AJC after the win in game 1 over the Diamondbacks where Minor gave up only 1 ER in 8 innings in a 10-2 win:
Minor has taken a little criticism for a perceived self-interest in the past. I really like the humility and team attitude shown by Minor here after a what can only be described as a dominant outing against one of the better hitting teams in the league. Many young "stud pitchers" would talk about how their stuff was "on" and about their individual performance. I really like how Minor, despite the fact that he really was outstanding, prefers to give credit to the team here. That is a very selfless and mature attitude. I like it.On going eight innings
“It was good for the whole team, just to go deep in the game and not have the relievers have to go so many innings like they did last year. It really just puts the team at ease.”
On not letting Uggla’s error bother him, even though it led to the tying run
“No, you can’t really blame a teammate. Because they hit a couple of balls that Prado caught, that were hit hard. So I can’t really blame someone for that.”
On getting out of jams in the fourth and fifth
“That’s just part of the game. Damage control. That’s something to work on. Like I said during spring training, when I had one game that was pretty bad, I said, well I need to work on stuff like that anyway, for the times during the season when it really counts.”
On his past two starts, 1 earned run in 15-1/3 innings. What’s that meant for your confidence?
“I think it’s just really great for the team. It’s not really about me, it’s about the offense right now, the defense. They’re making good plays behind me. Without that, games could be a lot different"
