Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros Series Recap

Craig Kimbrel notched a save in both Braves victories against Houston.

After starting off the season by getting swept at the hands of the Mets, Atlanta bounced back and took two of three from the Astros. Some notes from the series:

Chipper Jones played in the final two games of the series, and his return couldn't have come at a better time. Chipper went 4-9 over the two games, including a homer in his first game back.

Our old friend Jordan Schafer seemed to be on base the entire series. He went 6-13 with two walks, four runs scored, three stolen bases, and one pretty funny strikeout due to his inability to get a bunt down in game three.

Michael Bourn's return home to Houston didn't go as well as he probably hoped. Atlanta's center fielder went 1-13 with one walk, one run scored, and one strikeout.

Atlanta still hasn't had a starting pitcher record an out in the sixth inning yet. However, Braves starters did record 17 strikeouts in 15 innings of work against the Astros. Both Tommy Hanson and Brandon Beachy needed at least 98 pitches to get through their five innings respectively.

Rookie Tyler Pastornicky hit his first home run in game two of the series, knocking it into the left field seats off of Kyle Weiland. He even got the ball back, which made for a cool scene.

It was nice to see Jason Heyward have a big night in game three of the series, as he went 3-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI's.

Craig Kimbrel recorded two saves during the series after not pitching since March 28th.

Up next:
